Sumner Skatepark is a modern skate park located in the heart of Sumner, Christchurch. Officially opened in late 2024, the park has quickly become a popular destination for skateboarders and riders from across the city and surrounding areas.
The park features a well thought out mix of bowls and street elements. This includes a main pool bowl with a deeper section, a flow bowl, quarter pipes, ledges, rails, pump bumps, a manual box, and beginner friendly features. The layout caters to all skill levels, from learners through to experienced skaters.
Next to the skate park is the Sumner Village Green, a community space with picnic tables, seating, barbeques, and shaded areas. The green space is designed for both spectators and community events, making the area a central hangout spot for Sumner.
Easily accessible and set in a scenic coastal location, Sumner Skatepark offers a great place to skate, connect with others, and enjoy one of Christchurch’s newest recreational spaces.
